Claire Greenwell is a conservation biologist and ornithologist with a passion for sea and coastal birds. She recently submitted her PhD at Murdoch University, which explored the breeding chronology, life history, behaviour and ecology of the Australian Fairy Tern with the overarching view of informing conservation efforts for this threatened (Vulnerable) species.

Claire’s area of interest is waterbirds, birds in flight and conservation photography. Claire used digital photography to document the feeding ecology, and movement of Fairy Terns as part of her research.

Claire was awarded the Portfolio Prize in the 2020 BirdLife Australia Photography Awards and has many other images shortlisted in national competitions.
